Pedestrian dies of injuries in Saturday accident

The Florida Times Union (FTU) is reporting Ethel Lovett, age 76, was crossing South 14th near Fir Street Saturday, when she was struck and killed by a Jeep Wrangler. The accident occurred around 5:45 p.m. Lovett was a long time resident of Fernandina Beach.

    Tragic – hope that greater care will be taken to think through what a senior friendly framework will look like to help improve the safety of the walking spaces, help ensure that residents as they age are not tragically taken away before their time. Very sorry for the loss.
