Those interested in seeing what a beach parking kiosk might look like have a chance to see one at City Hall in Fernandina Beach.

The Parkeon StradaPal, a multi-services terminal is available for public viewing at the rear of commission chambers.

The solar-powered kiosk is made of anti-corrosive steel and offers purchasers a variety of payment options ranging from coin to credit card and cashless.  The unit weighs almost 200 pounds and stands over 5 feet tall plus a ground mounting pedestal.

What an UGLY SITE! NO to the proposed beach parking fees & machines. The process was all wrong – a hand picked committee is NOT representative government. Higher property taxes – higher gas tax is enough.

We do not need parking at our beach access points. This is Fernandina, not South Beach.

Obviously Martin and some of the rest don’t get the message most voters do not want this. Equally obvious is there is a full press media push to have paid beach parking. Same goes for the Sadler ave road diet plan.

with the amount of money projected it may be time to have visitors help pay [ but on the other hand don’t they pay by spending locally ] & citizens should be exempt. i personally visit the beach very little any more with all of the restrictions now imposed.i have seen these kiosk in california & wonder how many people will be needed to collect the money & a coin counter will be needed & there will probably be repairs from vandalism. perhaps they should use credit card only to eliminate coin counter & someone to run it?? & if this “works”(?)—i’m sure it will become year round? what is the return on investment in years?———well maybe all of this has been discussed but had to add my 2cents worth———i know some things have to change but it is just one more way amelia island is losing its freshness along with serious changes such as home builders finding sneaky ways to exceed beach front heights & developers destroying trees & building on wetlands with elected officials blessings or at least no ‘real’ fiduciary punishment

It’s about time! Almost all beach communities have paid beach parking.
