Amelia Island, Florida– Osprey Village, a retirement community, owned and operated by Senior Living Communities, LLC (Senior-Living-Communities.com) hosted the four winners of their Silver Pen Writing competition for a ceremony in their Fireside Lounge. The Silver Pen competition started in 2012 as a way to bridge the communication gap between high school seniors and their Members.
Senior Living Communities and Wellmore host this event every year to help assist high school seniors with their collegiate goals. Each year, there is a total of $3,750 given to each participating location, which is what the winners were awarded. The winners from Osprey Village were as follows, Nichole Hoffman (1st Place), Bryce Sawyer (2nd Place), Cameron Mullis (3rd Place), and Alexander Sakata (4th Place) and were invited to join Members Village for the award ceremony.
Osprey Village choose the topic each year and this year they focused on Technology, ‘Technology is a part of our everyday lives. How important is it to you? Does it get in the way of other activities? And if so, what are they? Are there any negative aspects?’ Students are to write (600-1000) on this topic and submit it to our judges, without their names on it. The judges at Osprey Village were Norma Ceraolo, Joan Phelps, Jo Merman, JoAnne Gallo, and Barbara Fredrickson.
