The Northeast Florida Builders Association announced it endorses Dr. Kathy Burns for Nassau County School Superintendent. Nassau County School’s current superintendent, John Ruis, announced he will be retiring this year. Burns has served on the Nassau County School Board since 1998.
Burns received NEFBA’s endorsement because she has demonstrated support and understanding of the impact the construction industry has on Northeast Florida’s economic growth. NEFBA has a 72-year legacy of advocating for issues that affect the building and construction industry in Northeast Florida.
“A strong school system is a catalyst for growth,” said Jeff Ferguson, chairman of NEFBA’s Nassau Builders Council and mortgage loan officer at EverBank Nassau. “We are confident that Dr. Burns will continue the great work Dr. Ruis has done to make Nassau County an A-rated school district.”

I have confidence the Nassau county schools will continue to move in the positive path that Dr. Ruis has implemented. My children and I have great respect for Dr. Ruis and his ability to make the students feel important and confident. I wish Dr. Burns great success.
