Members of Newcomers of Amelia Island Community Service Committee present a check to Janice Ancrum (third from left), President & CEO, Nassau County Council on Aging (NCCOA), from the proceeds of the organization’s Purple Elephant Sale and 50/50 raffle, held at a fall luncheon. Members pictured are (left to right) Jan Rothrock, Rose Ann Schwartz, Wendy Taylor, Jan Cote-Merow, Signe Lupfer, Julie Veilleux and Laura Germer.

NCCOA recently moved into a new home at 1901 Island Walk Way, Fernandina Beach, where the agency is poised to double and triple the number of seniors served in Nassau County. A 25,500-square-foot facility, The Life Center features a commercial-grade kitchen complete with state-of-the-art appliances and a serving line for congregate meals for seniors. The Nutrition Support Program will nearly double the number of meals provided to seniors by 2020, as well as provide volunteer organizations with a nutrition center to prepare meals for the homebound and serve as a learning center by offering healthy cooking classes for seniors.
