On February 22, over 700 members of the Newcomers Club of Amelia Island, serving all of Nassau County, will be sponsoring a fundraiser to benefit the Barnabas Hurricane Irma Disaster Relief Fund. The fundraising event will be held at The Amelia Island Club on the Omni Amelia Island Plantation.
Following the devastation caused by hurricane Irma in October, Barnabas took a lead role in assisting individuals and families affected by the storm. More than 50 families were provided financial help with rent and or utility payments or temporary housing in order to prevent homelessness. Others were helped with food through weekly mobile food distributions in Callahan and additional food distributions at the main Barnabas Food Pantry. Life protecting medical prescriptions, tree removal, and replacement of destroyed clothing, bedding and household items were also provided.
Tickets will be sold for chances to win gifts donated by local merchants and members. The group is expecting 100 gifts to be raffled. For more information on purchasing tickets please visit www.newcomersamelia.org.
