JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. – Every $1 spent marketing Florida’s First Coast of Golf, which comprises Nassau, Duval, St. Johns, Clay and Flagler Counties, generates $178 in golf-related expenditures – ensuring taxpayers enjoy a vibrant quality of life while keeping more money in their paychecks each month.

In efforts to further enhance residents’ understanding of tourism’s impact on their day-to-day lives, the Florida Association of Destination Marketing Organizations (FADMO), the voice for Florida’s county tourism promotion agencies, in partnership with Florida’s First Coast of Golf, the official golf-related tourism marketing corporation for the First Coast, announces the launch of a new education campaign, “Florida’s First Coast of Golf Tourism Works for Me.”

While the tourism industry employs more than 80,000 citizens on Florida’s First Coast and provides the five counties with $152 million in golf-related economic impact, the benefits to residents are even more wide-ranging. Golf tourism-related tax revenue and visitor spending helps fund various components of K-12 public schools, public safety personnel and beach beautification, as well as arts and culture institutions and events.

“When tourists visit one of the vibrant destinations on Florida’s First Coast, they do more than just play a few rounds of golf and stay at a hotel. Visiting golfers spend their money at various businesses throughout these communities, not only providing jobs and sales tax revenue but also funding beach maintenance, arts and culture attractions and even public education,” said David Reese, President of Florida’s First Coast of Golf. “Traveling golfers strengthen Nassau, Duval, St. Johns, Clay and Flagler Counties and make those communities better places to live, work and play.”

The campaign, created and paid for by FADMO, helps promote awareness of tourism’s positive impact on each and every Floridian, and details the work county tourism promotion agencies must do to attract visitors to their communities rather than competing destinations worldwide.
