New business & building report: October 2017

The Fernandina Observer welcomes the following businesses newly licensed – or relicensed — to operate in our city last month:

During October 2017, the city surveyed 408 permits, an increase of 128 from October 2016. This brought the city $786,244 in fees. Permits were issued for 12 new buildings. Plumbing (71), roofing/re-roofing (52), and mechanical (51) accounted for the highest number of permits by category.

The year-to-date permit total is 3,395 compared to 2,969 for the comparable period last year with new commercial and residential construction permits up to 162 from 125 at this time in 2016.
