Nassauville shooting suspects captured

Sheriff Bill Leeper announced today that two individuals were charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle and aggravated battery.

Luther Heith Pease, 31, from Fernandina Beach and Kathleen Michelle Newton, 18, from Fernandina Beach arrested.

On Thursday, July 7, 2016, at approximately 2:30 pm, a 2012 Ford Fusion was traveling northbound on Owens Road in the Nassauville area in Nassau County.

The driver (18 year old male from Fernandina Beach) observed an older red car traveling behind him and then heard a pop and the back window shattered. Apparently a bullet came through the back window and struck the right front passenger (18 year old male from Yulee) in the upper right shoulder area.

The driver of the Ford Fusion then drove to Baptist Nassau Hospital in Fernandina Beach to get his passenger medical care, who was treated and released. The older red car was last seen around Mobley Heights and Old Nassauville Road.

After extensive investigation NCSO Detectives filed warrants for the arrest of, Luther Heith Pease, 31, from Fernandina Beach and Kathleen Michelle Newton, 18, from Fernandina Beach for Aggravated Battery and Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle. Pease was also charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Newton was driving a red Pontiac Grand Am at the time of the incident, while Pease fired a weapon from the vehicle.

On Friday, July 22, 2016, NCSO posted on their Facebook page the photos and information about these two wanted suspects. Also, Sheriff Leeper highlighted them on his weekly radio show “Nassau’s Most Wanted” which airs on WKBX (K-Bay 106.3 FM) in Kingsland Georgia. On Saturday, July 23rd they were found in Georgia and arrested by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.
