On Saturday, November 9th at the Atlantic Avenue Recreation Center, the Nassau County Community Development Corporation held an event to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Living founders, past and present officers, scholarship recipients and the community attended the event. NCCDC, a non-profit chartered organization, was founded in 1979, under leadership of the late Elmo Myers, in the interest of saving and restoring historic Peck High School.
Over the years, NCCDC has awarded approximately one hundred scholarships to high school seniors across Nassau County including other projects involving senior citizens.
All proceeds from the gala go toward scholarships.
