Aloha Bagel and Deli

Aloha Bagels and Deli opened a few weeks ago at 432 South 8th Street near the old Oak Tree and next to Shady Ladies Art Gallery. Michael and Sloan Keats and their children Hannah and Cameron work at the restaurant, making it a family affair. Michael and Sloan have been in the restaurant and corporate food business for years, their last venture, a bagel/deli shop in Satellite Beach. The menu is breakfast and lunch items, being open 7 days a week from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. They make their own bagels, but have other bread choices as well. The eggel bagel seems to be very popular as are the reubens and rachels. However, there are sandwiches, salads and desserts. (Their chocolate brownies are incredible.)

There are also a lot of take-out orders being picked up, I noticed on a recent visit. Michael insists that they can be very flexible for customer preferences and they are still working on the menu. Portions are generous and the décor is warm and friendly. Sloan’s brightly colored artwork decorates the walls, a tribute to the former Susi Sax gallery it now occupies. Check out their Facebook page for more information and comments from customers.

Finally, I should mention that it is also nice to see other businesses like Verizon, Megabytes, Ace Painting and Maintenance, Pippi’s and Classic Carpets updating their properties although Verizon is relatively new. The variety of businesses is exciting and I particularly like to watch Hot Paws dog playground on the way into downtown. I always wonder why nations can’t get along like the dogs eventually do with a little prodding.

According to Phil, BuyGo will eventually share space with condos, Trawick Tile is looking to become a microbrewery and other possibilities are on the horizon. Stay tuned for more excitement to come….
