Dr. Jane Walker Lindberg

Dr. Jane Walker Lindberg will be receiving the Florida Alliance for Arts Education Community Volunteer Award at the 2019 FAAE Annual Leadership Summit at the Riverside Hotel on Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale on June 21, 2019.

Dr. Lindberg was nominated by Robin Bolan for her work with Arts Alive Nassau. In her nomination, Mrs. Bolan states that Dr. Lindberg “has devoted a major part of her life to music and the arts. Her extensive resume illustrates this . . . her dogged pursuit to provide art and music to our elementary children, and her energy in accomplishing what she does wile working part time in her family business.”

Dr. Lindberg’s achievements include founding and directing the Island Chamber Singers and the Songspinners, and reorganizing the former Amelia Arts Academy to form Arts Alive Nassau, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide arts experiences, including music theatre, visual arts, and movement, to all elementary school children in the Nassau County School District. The Arts Alive Nassau programs have grown from three in 2012 to twenty after school programs and an additional two programs in exceptional student population during the school day. Dr. Lindberg has remained president of the volunteer board and is still very involved in the fundraising aspect and oversees day-to-day operations.

Dr. Lindberg has also been “instrumental” by serving on the board of the Area Residents In Action for the Symphony (ARIAS), which supports the Arts Alive violin program and helped create the Nassau Youth Orchestra beginning this fall. This program will provide free concerts featuring players from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra in elementary schools and offers an Instrument Zoo to fourth graders. Also in 2019, Arts Alive Nassau launched the First Coast Singers, a new community chorus for youth ages 10 to 16.

Please join the FAAE in congratulating Dr. Jane Walker Lindberg as the Community Volunteer for 2019!
