It’s kooky and it’s spooky! The musical comedy The Addams Family will be presented at Amelia Community Theatre in August with eleven performances on the main stage. Based on characters created by Charles Addams, which were developed for television and film, the Addams Family isn’t your average family, unless your family fun night includes being stretched on a rack or bringing home dinner from the petting zoo.

Daughter Wednesday Addams is in love, and she begs her family for “One Normal Night” when her boyfriend and his parents come to dinner. Parents Gomez and Morticia, brother Pugsley, Uncle Fester, Lurch, and Grandma promise to try their hardest to be normal, but they can’t guarantee the behavior of the Addams Ancestors, who have left their graves for 24 hours and are lurking around the mansion.

The Addams Family premiered on Broadway in 2010, with book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. ACT’s cast of 24 actors are directed by Dave Alan Thomas, and the show is sponsored by Julia Hall Interiors.

Performances for this PG-13 rated musical comedy are at 8 p.m. on August 9-11, 16-18, 22-25 and at 2 p.m. on August 19 at 207 Cedar Street. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students, available at AmeliaCommunityTheatre.org  and 904-261-6749. The ACT Box Office is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. Tickets are still available for opening night, August 9, which includes an opening night party with complimentary food and drink from 7-8 p.m.
