I was teaching 19 first graders this week about MLK, Jr. and what he did for equality in this country. They were so outraged to hear that a person could not eat in a restaurant or use a bathroom because of their skin color. Oahu enjoys a rich diversity of cultures and people of all different skin colors living in harmony, and the kids in the schools I have been in really don’t worry about skin color at all. it is so heartening to hear kids talking like I wish more adults would.
