The Nassau County Bird Club’s next field trip will be this Saturday at Huguenot. Gather at Harris Teeter parking lot near the gas station at 8:00 am to car pool or at the parking area outside the entrance to Huguenot at 8:30 am near the gazebo.

There is a $5 entrance fee to Huguenot so car pooling will cut the cost. The group will bird the park at least through the low tide at 10:30 am. If you plan to leave earlier than 11:00 am, then you may want to drive yourself.

The recent cold front and bad snow conditions in the Northeast could bring in some northern species and ducks. The park has recently produced a Purple Sandpiper and Lapland Longspur. The best chance to see the Purple Sandpiper will be at low tide so we can access the area beyond the rock barrier.
