Despite strong winds from Hurricane Matthew impacting Fernandina Beach, the beautiful heavily wooded winding roads through Fort Clinch are open. Also opened is the Beach Campground and it is expected the Amelia River Campground will open soon.
Today, ticket takers are manning the fort entrance for those interested in tours even though portions of the fort are off limits to the public. Three of the fort’s bastions have water intrusion and are being pumped, and there is some water on the fort’s interior parade ground.
When will they inspect the pier and update us in how long repairs will last?
