Throughout the month of February, First Presbyterian Church of Fernandina Beach collected food donations for the Barnabas Food Pantry to combat hunger in Nassau County. About 1,500 pounds of food were collected along with $360 in cash donations.
First Presbyterian Church called this food drive, “Tackle Hunger Month.” The church collected food donations after each Sunday church service, totaling 1,396 pounds.
Volunteers from the church also spent an afternoon collecting food donations from Publix in Fernandina Beach. The volunteers collected 464 pounds of food and $360 in cash donations during their food drive at Publix.
The need for food assistance continues to exist throughout Nassau County. Almost 10,000 of our neighbors are rarely sure from where their next meal will come. Over 3,000 of them are children. Barnabas is thankful for the support we receive from the community toward our many programs.
