On June 2, Andrew Holesko, of Passero Associates, presented an update to the Fernandina Beach City Commission on the Fernandina Airport Master Plan. Holesko said the plan is almost 75% complete. He seeks input from commissioners and citizens prior to completion.

Consideration is being given to a name change for the Fernandina Beach Airport. A name change will be approved by the city commission.

The goal of those involved in preparing the plans is to present a “reasonable plan consistent with community interests.”

The entire presentation (13 minutes) is available for your viewing below.

Boiling the whole process down, this is the plan: build longer runways to attract more aircraft.

If you stack the deck, you know what hand everyone gets. In this situation, the cards held by those any where near the airport is a loser.
