Fernandina Beach High School Class of 2019 – Military awards, Beyond the Badges, and more – Part 2

Editor’s Note: This is the second in a series of photos of senior award recipients taken at the FBHS Awards Ceremony held on April 30. Congratulations to the graduates of Fernandina Beach High School Class of 2018. It is always a pleasure to see so many happy students being recognized for their achievements. We wish them well.

FBHS graduate Nathan Pascual is headed to West Point and will receive an education valued at $500,000. To our knowledge this is the first time an FBHS graduate has received an appointment to West Point.  Presenting the certificate of appointment is Dr. James Glackin.
Nathan Manning and Brooke Long are recognized by the Marine Corp as Distinguished Athletes. Nathan Pascal receives Marine Corp Scholastic Excellence Award.
Hamilton Raney receivesd an $180,000 NROTC scholarship from the U.S Marines.

Fernandina Beach Police Chief James Hurley, and Fire/Rescue Chief Ty Silcox present “Beyond the Badges Award” to Jessica Putent and Taylor Alvare and Jessica Poteat.
Howard Pine, and Sharyl Wood (L) present Katie Slaughter (L-3) with a $5,000 scholarship. Recipients of $1000 scholarships were Bryce Howell, Body Mandelbaum, and Felix McKenzie.
John Castner rerpresenting the Johnny Thirsk Memorial Scholarship funded by the Nassau County Sports Fishing Association awards scholarship to  Brody Mandelbaum.
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 54 representative Robin Watrous presents a scholarship to Allison Gelis.
Taylor Holwell, Jessica Poteat, and Bailey Sharpe received scholarships from GFWC Federation of Women’s Club of Fernandina Beach from Kim Lunt.
Nathan Pascual receives the Ted Steger Jr. Memorial Physics Award from Chris Weber.
