The Nassau County Council on Aging’s (NCCOA) 2016 Gala, “One Night in Casablanca” has been rescheduled to Friday, December 2 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation. The event will take place in a new venue — the Amelia Ballroom. Those who purchased tickets for the original October 7 date can be assured their seats for the new date are secure. In fact, the Amelia Ballroom is larger than the original venue and can accommodate more guests!

The rescheduled Gala will still feature the theme of Rick’s Cafe Americain from the Humphrey Bogart – Ingrid Bergman movie “Casablanca.” Highlights of the evening include two roulette tables, Moroccan cuisine, live and silent auctions, and dancing to 1940s-era Big Band music and popular songs performed by Rick Davis Live.

With the Gala coming so close to the holidays, guests will have an opportunity to purchase amazing gifts – for themselves or others – at the largest live and silent auctions ever at an NCCOA Gala. Some of the auction items featured: A full-sized handmade quilt; tickets to local live theatre productions, including the Alhambra; a selection of certificates to restaurants such as Bob’s Steak and Chophouse and Amelia Tavern and Brewpub; golf packages, including to Amelia National; decadent desserts created by renowned local baker Bill Bryan; a three-hour Craigcat boat tour with Backwater Adventures; hotel stays at the Omni AIP and Jekyll Island Country Club; artwork by Jose Garcia, Sandra Baker-Hinton and Paul Massing; 12 bottles of exceptional red wine, including a rare Le Sol Syrah from Gimblett Gravels Hawkes Bay vineyard; a tour for eight of White Oak Plantation, and much more.

All proceeds of the Gala benefit NCCOA senior services, including Meals on Wheels, Adult Day HealthCare and NassauTRANSIT.

The larger venue in the Omni AIP’s Amelia Ballroom allows the NCCOA to accommodate additional Gala sponsors as well as more guests. To learn more about sponsorship levels or purchase tickets at $100 each, call 904.261.0701 or visit www.nassaucountycoa.org/events.
