Schools in Communities: News from the Nassau County School District
Yulee Elementary School was recently selected by the East Coast Technical Assistance Center(ECTAC) as one of a small number of Title 1 schools identified for inclusion in the exceeding expectations project. Yulee Elementary School was identified using criteria based on FDOE 2016 School Grade data in the following areas:
- ELA and Math Achievement
- ELA and Math learning gains and lower quartile learning gains
- ELA and Math achievement in the black and Hispanic subgroup
- Science achievement
- School grade
ECTAC recently sent a team to interview teachers, parents, community members and students. They also conducted walkthroughs of classrooms. After their visit, Yulee Elementary was informed that they were selected as an ECTAC Exceeding Expectations Award School.
A delegation from Yulee Elementary School will be invited to Orlando in September to share their school’s best practices with other schools and districts around the state. The team had many good things to say about all aspects of the school, but was especially impressed with their degree of collaboration, teamwork and sense of family/community.
