Medardo Monzon’s campaign for Fernandina Beach City Commission announces the key elements of the campaign’s platform. These elements were developed from input received in multiple Community Workshops and forums, held since announcing the campaign. City residents also took advantage of online capabilities to provide input to the campaign.
“I’m grateful to the residents who took the time to participate and to the people who hosted the events. I welcome the opportunity to meet with citizens to explain these items in detail”, stated Monzon in making the announcement.
The six elements are:
• PRESERVE SMALL TOWN FEEL
• PROTECT OUR FRAGILE ENVIRONMENT
• FIX & IMPROVE DOWNTOWN WATERFRONT
• STRENGTHEN SMALL BUSINESS COMMUNITY
• IDENTIFY AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPTIONS
• SOLIDIFY CITY FINANCES
These elements were explained in detail during the Campaign’s Kick-off event on October 7 at 3:00 pm in Central Park. Specific details of the platform will be made available next week via a press release and through the campaign’s website.
Monzon explained: “Developing the community’s platform took considerable time and effort but it was worthwhile because it represents the needs and desires of constituents. Developing a platform from the bottom up strengthens the links between citizens and elected officials.”
“I believe that other City Commissioners will rally behind the vision implied in these elements. I look forward to working with other City Commissioners, government agencies, and key stakeholders to make this vision a reality”, added Monzon.
