The Fernandina Observer has learned about a tragic industrial accident that occurred at the Port of Fernandina early this morning. Kinder Morgan crane operator Timothy (Tim) Dubberly, 58, was killed when the crane’s cab separated from the crane and fell about 100 feet. An investigation is currently underway into the cause of the accident.
Out of respect for the deceased and his family, and consideration for all the Port employees and management, we have cancelled the Town Hall Meeting scheduled for this afternoon featuring candidates for Ocean Highway and Port Authority commissioners.
We are not able to announce a rescheduled event at this time.
