Books on the move – Fernandina Beach Branch Library to close Monday April 6

Press Release from Dawn Bostwick,
Director, Nassau County Library System
April 2, 2015, 10:30 a.m.

??????????The Fernandina Beach Branch Library will close on Monday, April 6th to bring all of it’s materials home! The renovated building is now complete and the Library is expected to re-open as one completed building on Monday, April 20th. The new library addition and renovation will now offer 16,025 sq. ft. of library services.

The adult fiction and all non-fiction books will return and take their place in front of the new wide windows. The local history and genealogy materials now have their own divided section, and we now have a separate reading room for magazines and newspapers.

The Meeting Room will be open and will seat 80 people. And of course the Children’s Room is already open; though later this month, it will be dedicated to children’s services and will feature six new AWE early literacy computer stations.

Many of our residents were kind enough to provide foster care for our library materials during our construction. We greatly appreciate your participation in this effort! Everyone is now welcome to return the loaned materials so they can be placed on the shelves.

Book returns will remain open for your convenience.

Passports will not be processed during the time the library is closed. Internet access will be limited to 6 public computers. Wireless access will be available during this time.

New furniture and equipment is on order and will be placed in the library as it arrives. We appreciate your patience as we complete this process.

If you need reading materials while we are closed, visit the Friends of the Fernandina Library Semi-Annual Book Sale from April 9-11. Or visit one of our other library branches located in: Yulee, Callahan, Bryceville and Hilliard.
