Recognition was given and a resolution unanimously approved at the March 25, 2019 meeting of the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners applauding the accomplishments of the members of the West Nassau High School Cheerleaders. This group of 18 student athletes recently won a number of awards – at the state, national and international level.
Calee Edwards, Haley Horton, Haley Love, Storm Rhoden, Lexi Batrous, Haley Condurelis, Josi Connors, Haleigh Fouraker, Alissa Keener, Autumn Wiggins, Mackenzie Witt, Jasmine Singletary, Chandler Baughman, Presley Ellis, Braylin Howell, Kobe Stiles, Autumn Brown and Raeli Rhoden.
The resolution read as follows:
WHEREAS, ten teams competed in the NHSCC finals and West Nassau High School came in first place, earning the 2019 NHSCC National Championship; and
WHEREAS, the West Nassau High School Cheerleaders competed in their first World School Cheerleading Championship on February 10, 2019 against teams from around the globe; and
WHEREAS, the West Nassau High School Cheerleader’s performance earned them their first World Championship title, bringing their total championship awards in 2019 to three; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners commends the West Nassau High School Cheerleaders for their hard work and dedication and congratulates them on their accomplishments.
Coach Samantha Beazley spoke at the podium, proudly stating the average grade point average of team members was 3.626.
Editor’s Note: Born in Hagerstown, Maryland, Cindy received her BA in Political Science from Dickinson College. Upon graduation, Cindy began her career on Capitol Hill working as a legislative aide and director. She later became a part of the public relations and lobbying team of the American Iron and Steel Institute and served as director of the office of state legislative affairs for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). Cindy was involved in economic development with the state of Maryland, and served as executive director of Leadership Washington County. As a community volunteer, Cindy participates in numerous volunteer activities serving as a member of Sunrise Rotary, and as board member of Cummer Amelia Board of Directors.
