Editor’s Note: Kathy Brooks’ family moved to Fernandina Beach in 2000 when her husband accepted a position at UF Health/Jacksonville. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Kathy has taught high school, elementary school, and preschool–including Head Start–for forty years. For the last seven years, Kathy has worked at Nassau County Volunteer Center.
Kathy claims to be a “strictly an unschooled amateur photographer” and she has enjoyed taking photos of family, friends, and nature her whole life. She says Amelia Island is a treasure for photographers, and she enjoys donating photographs to various charities for silent auctions and just sharing the beauty of this island in photo gifts to friends and family. She is now consumed by taking photos of her first grandchild–a grandson.
An extraordinarily beautiful photograph!
My wife Peggie Weeks and I have enjoyed Kathy’s photography since we moved to this amazing Island three years ago. Kathy somehow always captures the essence of our beautiful Community. Our lives are enriched by her art. Thank You
Beautiful illustration of why we are are lucky to live here! Thanks for keeping us reminded.
