“In support of [Museum volunteer efforts] the Crane Island Development team named the Museum as their charity of choice for the Southern Living Idea House.”
“The Amelia Island Museum kicked off a $400,000 Capital Campaign in 2019 to completely renovate and update its existing exhibit spaces. The re-imagining of the exhibit spaces will make the Island’s story more compelling and more accessible to all ages and learning styles. Artifacts and scenically created environments in each room, along with the use of technology, will set up the story creating a 21st century experience that our over 25,000 yearly visitors expect.
In support of this effort the Crane Island Development team named the Museum as their charity of choice for the Southern Living Idea House. This meant that for every ticket sold to view the inspirational home $5 would be donated to the Museum’s Capital Campaign. In return, a dedicated team of Museum volunteers stepped up to help greet visitors to the Idea House for a period of 6 months. Additionally the Amelia Island TDC and Board of County Commissioners offered to match up to the first $25,000 in support of this critical tourism attraction and repository of local history. With just under 16,000 tickets sold the Museum received over $79,000 which, in conjunction with the investment from the AITDC and Board of County Commissioners puts them at over 75% of their goal.”
