This Pulitzer-Prize winning play by Mary Chase tells the story of the ever gracious Elwood P. Dowd and his frequent companion and friend, Harvey, a pooka who takes the shape of a tall white rabbit. Harvey is a popular fellow, but invisible to most people. Elwood’s sister, Veta, tired of being embarrassed by her brother and his rabbit, tries to have him committed to a sanitarium for treatment, only to have her own sanity called into question.

This delightful show was made into a popular movie starring Jimmy Stewart, and a recent Broadway revival featured Jim Parsons of “The Big Bang Theory” in the lead role. ACT’s production is directed by Gill Johnston, with Joseph Steadman playing Elwood.

Tickets are $22 for adults; $10 for students through college and available at www.ameliacommunitytheatre.org or by calling 904-261-6749. The box office is open from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and opens 90 minutes before curtain on show dates.
