4th Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission announces continued interview schedule for circuit court vacancy

Editor’s Note: A recent article “Interviews for 4th Circuit judgeship suspended,” by Adam Kaufman, legal analyst, reported the Judicial Nominating Committee halted judicial candidate interviews on Monday, June 11, following an order issued by Circuit Court Judge Charles Dodson.  Five interviews were completed on Monday, including an interview with Magistrate Janet Carver who is one of six Nassau County applicants for the Nassau  County Circuit Court Judge position.. Interviews will continue on Wednesday, June 20.

As a result of the resignation of The Honorable Robert M. Foster, there exists a vacancy on the Fourth Judicial Circuit Bench.  Governor Rick Scott has asked the Fourth Judicial Circuit Nominating Commission to provide him with nominees for this vacancy.  The Commission will finish interviewing the following applicants on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in accordance with the following schedule:

Interviews will take place in the Chambers of The Honorable Mark H. Mahon, Chief Judge of the Fourth Judicial Circuit, located at the Duval County Courthouse, Room 7139, Duval County Courthouse, 501 W. Adams St., Jacksonville, Florida.  The Commission completed five (5) interviews on Monday, June 11, 2018.

 

Members of the Bench, the Bar, and the public are encouraged to contact the Commissioners with relevant information about these applicants.

 

All proceedings of this Judicial Nominating Commission are open to the public except for deliberations.  Accordingly, applicants should not expect their application be kept confidential.  If an applicant is nominated by this Commission, all materials attached to the original application along with any supplemental materials will be submitted to Governor Scott’s Office.
