Sergeant J. Hepler responded to the scene and upon arrival was not able to locate the driver. Hepler observed a garden hose and bed sheet attached to the rear of the automobile.  It appeared these items were being used to move the vehicle.  The license tag was removed.

As Hepler began documenting the scene, an individual appeared with soiled clothing and a small abrasion on his left eye and right arm.  The individual was identified as Hector Angel who admitted he was the driver of the vehicle.  Angel left the scene of the accident to seek help to remove the vehicle from the residence.  Angel told Hepler he had no valid insurance.

Angel was arrested for reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and for tampering with evidence.  He was later transported to the Nassau County jail.  There is no indication in the police report that the property owner was home at the time.
