Main Street Social at Salty Pelican August 28, 2019

Fernandina Beach Main Street
MEDIA RELEASE
August 14, 2019 – 11:00 a.m.

The Salty Pelican Bar and Grille in historic Fernandina Beach, Florida, is hosting Main Street Social, Wednesday, August 28, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where you can eat, drink, and mingle for a good cause.

For more than 35 years, Main Street America has been helping revitalize historic commercial districts in some of our nation’s oldest neighborhoods. Often, just the word, “downtown” conjures up images of deteriorating buildings and overgrown landscaping. This movement has become a network, a voice, to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development, and is a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Inhabited for centuries, Timucuan Indians first settled on Amelia Island and Fernandina Beach around 1000 AD. With a natural deep water port and access to the ocean, this small barrier island easily became a stomping ground for pirates and bootleggers. Indeed, Fernandina had a colorful history long before any of eight nation’s laid claim to her as a possession. With a history so storied, it is of vital importance to keep Fernandina’s downtown business district vibrant and thriving.

Limited to the first 50 guests, Main Street Social, is only requesting a small $20.00 cash donation fee per person at the door. Admission includes appetizers and one free drink. Sponsored by Amelia Island Coffee, tickets may be purchased in advance by credit card at eventbrite.com, search: Main Street Social. All proceeds from this event will benefit Fernandina Beach Main Street.
