The Amelia Island Beach & Marine Life Protection Task Force is sponsoring a presentation on:

Amelia Island’s Dunes:

How They Protect Us — and How they are Threatened

Guest Speaker:  Dr. Frank Hopf

When:  Thursday, May 10, 2018 at noon

Where:  American Beach/Nassau County Community Center, 1600 Julia Street, Fernandina Beach, FL  32034

In December 2017, Dr. Frank Hopf spoke at the Amelia Island Museum of History to a standing room only audience.  Hopf is a PhD, PE (Texas), PhD Geomorphologist who lives on Amelia Island.  He is a JEEP owner and a beach lover, who is committed to insuring that dunes are protected.  He will discuss the formation of dunes, the habitat they provide, how they are affected by storms and human activities, what has been done to protect them, and what we need to do.

Please bring a brown bag lunch and join us!
