Discussing the Future of Fernandina Beach with the Comp Plan/LDC Working Group

Comp Plan/LDC Working Group
Amelia Tree Conservancy
MEDIA RELEASE
July 13, 2021

Please note:  This is NOT a City of Fernandina Beach committee.  It is associated with the Amelia Tree Conservancy.

City consultants will soon present their Vision Plan 2045 draft to the City. It is important that we all be prepared to participate in the discussion and development of this document and the Comprehensive Plan that will be based on it. The Comprehensive Plan is the top-level legal document in the City. The Comp Plan/LDC Working group invites you to participate in a two-part workshop to ask questions, provide input to the group and participate in brainstorming. Both sessions will be held at Story & Song Neighborhood Bookstore Bistro, 1430 Park Ave (just off 14th St. at the entrance to Amelia Park).

Part 1. Sunday, July 18, 1:00-2:30 at Story & Song: Introductory concepts, public trust and coastal management

Part 2. Sunday, July 25, 1:00-2:30 at Story & Song: Economic development, housing and mobility (transportation)

For more information on the group, its working drafts and previous webinars, visit www.aiwg.org.

While holding such meetings is a great idea, why are they not being held during the week at City Hall where they can be recorded for those not able to attend in person?

Good Point David, obviously, they’ve got the “you snooze, you loose attitude”

Makes one wonder…..looks to me (and appearances are important) that they are doing their best to limit how many people can attend and comment.

I agree!! I’ve been trying to help their municipal golf course since January 2021 and my comments have landed on deaf ears. Those who control the purse strings don’t use logic to improve the City’s fiscal condition. They just want to limit progress and demonstrate their uselessness.

While holding this on a weekend makes sense for the majority of people who aren’t working, why would you hold this in a place with such limited space?? If too many people show up will it be postponed and moved to a more appropriate space? Like an auditorium?

Suanne, thanks so much for the clarification to eliminate the confusion. Let me take this opportunity to announce that the newly appointed City Property Tax Advisory Committee will be meeting from 11:55 pm to 11:59 pm at the Seaside Park pavilion on September 31. All are welcome to attend but public comments will be limited to 10 seconds. LOL
