Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls – Classic Comfort Food

By Dylan Bailey

If you’ve been craving a taste of New England but couldn’t find the time to make the trip, fret not! Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls has expanded its unique, fast-casual dining experience to Fernandina Beach. This marks the 28th location for this U.S.-based franchise.

On Nov. 18, the Fernandina location opened its doors. As someone who loves seafood, I had the chance to experience Mason’s lobster rolls firsthand. And it was a delight! The lobster was succulent, and the bread was toasted beautifully. The Connecticut roll, served warm with butter, was my personal favorite.

The renovations on the inside are also welcomed. They’ve managed to preserve the heritage of the building while giving it a unique spin. You can also get some great views of Centre Street.

There’s more to Mason’s than just lobster rolls. The menu caters to all ages, offering soups, salads, sides, and drinks. There’s a fantastic clam chowder and a shrimp roll available, that are equally amazing.

I loved the lobster macaroni and cheese. It was filled with plump lobster meat and a sharp, flavorful white cheddar cheese sauce. But the standout dish for me was the lobster grilled cheese. The combination of sweet lobster meat and sharp white cheddar on grilled Texas toast was nothing short of heavenly.

The only thing to be aware of is the price. A single lobster roll will run you $19.95. Mason’s lets you do a roll and soup combo, but you’ll still spend $23.95. It is expensive, but the taste is fantastic.

Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls offers a fast-casual dining experience with high-quality, authentic New England cuisine. It’s an exciting addition to Fernandina Beach that I am happy to see. Now I need to go get another Connecticut roll.

Yes, very delightful! Friends were visiting from out of town so I chose Mason’s for a light dinner and kept my fingers crossed that it would turn out to be a good choice. We were all impressed. The rolls are on the pricey side but large so well worth the money. Yummy! We will definitely be returning.
