Yulee’s own Derrick Henry, Heisman Trophy winner and all-time high school rushing leader, will return to the First Coast on May 17 for the Florida Times-Union’s Best of Preps awards dinner.  Henry, who is one of the most successful Northeast Florida athletes ever, will be the dinner’s featured speaker.

Following his outstanding record in sports at Yulee High School in Nassau County, Derrick Henry was considered a consensus five-star recruit and listed as the Number One athlete.  He committed to the University of Alabama in September 2012.  During his 2015 season with the Crimson Tide, Henry broke Herschel Walker’s single-season college rushing yards record in the SEC.  He went on to earn many more honors, including the Heisman Trophy, before being drafted by the Tennessee Titans, where he continues to excel as running back.
