Ahoy! Tall ships coming to Brunswick in April

St. Marys Tall Ship Alliance is excited to announce we are bringing 2 Tall Ships into Brunswick, Georgia during the month of April.  We will have the Nao Santa Maria Tall Ship on April 9th – 14th.  Then on April 17th – 29th the American Privateer Lynx Tall Ship will be sailing into the Brunswick Landing Marina where they will be open to the public.

”  Nao Santa Maria ”    On April 8th the Nao Santa Maria Tall Ship will sail into the Brunswick Landing Marina where they will be open to the public on April 9th – 14th then will depart Brunswick on April 15th.  Brunswick will be the only location that the Santa Maria will be visiting in Georgia.   Nao Santa Maria is one of the most famous Tall Ships in the world that is known for being the flagship of Christopher Columbus Expeditions.  The Nao Santa Maria is an exact Replica on the Orignal ship from the 15th Century.  The Nao Santa Maria Replica is owned and operated by the Nao Victoria Foundation out of Spain. The Santa Maria replica was built in 2017 and became the newest Tall Ship that sails in the Noa Victoria Foundation’s fleet.    In January 2018 the Santa Maria began their first sail across the Atlantic where they have begun the ships first visit in the United States.  The nao Santa Maria Will be moored at dock #1 where they will be open to the public April 9th – 14th from 10 am until 7 pm daily.  The public will be able to step aboard for a self-guided tour of the 5 different decks that will be open, where they will find informative panels that explain the history of the Ship along with what it would have been like to sail aboard the Santa Maria over 500 years ago.  Ticket for the Santa Maria are now available at www.naosantamaria.org   Ticket prices are $5.00 ( children 5 – 10 years of age ) $10.00 ( ages 10 – adults ) and children 4 years and younger are free.

American Privateer Lynx

” American Privateer Lynx ”   On April 17th Privateer Lynx will sail into the Brunswick Landing Marina where they will be open to the public starting on April 18th – 29th.   Privateer Lynx is owned and operated by the Lynx Educational Foundation out of Nantucket Mass. Tall Ship Lynx is an interpretation replica of an 1812 War Privateer ship that sailed with the same name.  Privateer ship began running the blockade and taking many prizes during the 1812 War.  Privateer Lynx has been described as a living museum that sails to ports where they educate their visitors and the youth on the history of privateer ships during the war of  1812 when America struggled for our independence and Free.  Tall Ship Lynx will be offering Public Daily Sailing.  The public can purchase Tickets for a 2 1/2 hour sail where you can help hoist the sails and steer the ship then join the captain as he sends out a salute by firing the ships 6-pound guns.    Tall Ship Lynx will be at 2 locations during their visit to Brunswick, Georgia   April 18th – 24th the Tall Ship Lynx will be at the Brunswick Landing Marina at  ( 1 Torras Landing, Brunswick Ga.)  Then on April 25th – 29th the Lynx will be located at St Simons Island  Pier (  100 Malley St. St Simons Island, Ga )    Tall Ship Lynx will be offering Free Deck Tours, Free educational program and Public Sailing at both locations   Tickets for the daily Sailing are available at www.tallshiplynx.com   The schedule and Ticket price for both ships is located on our website at www.stmarystallshipalliance.org.

St Marys Tall Ship Alliance is a Georgia nonprofit organization.  Our mission and purpose are to promote and preserve the history of Tall Ships along with promoting today’s Tall Ship to the coast of Georgia.  St Marys Tall Ship has proven that our efforts create a point of interest for the coast of Georgia which also has shown that it creates interest from all points of Georgia as well as north and south of Georgia’s borders. In time St Marys Tall Ship Alliance would like to restore our maritime history with Tall Ship visiting Georgia’s Coast all year round which also would including several Tall ships that would make the Coast of Georgia their Homeport.

Recently St Marys Tall Ship Alliance has partnered up with Brunswick Landing Marina that is located in historic downtown Brunswick.  Mr. Michael Torras that is the General Manager and his Grandfather Mr. Bob Torras Sr.that is the owner of the Marina.  Mr. Torras has partnered up with our Alliance to provide a location for the Tall Ship that we are bringing onto Brunswick Georgia.  The Brunswick Landing Marina has an agreement with St Marys Tall Ship Alliance for the use of a Dock at their marina at no cost for the Visiting Tall Ship or to St MarysTall ship Alliance.  Micheal Torra has expressed that by allowing these historical Tall Ship to berth at his marina that it brings many positive things for the City of Brunswick, Glynn County, and the state of Georgia.

Brunswick Landing Marina is a State of the Art Marina that sits on 101 acres of the downtown Brunswick waterfront. The Marina offers 340 wet slips 101 dry slips that offers a first class marina for the personal and commercial vessel that is sailing up and down the Atlantic East Coast.  The Marina has modern concrete floating docks that will accommodate a vessel up to 225 foot in length.  The Brunswick Landing Marina is known for being a safe harbor from hurricanes that have been used by both the U.S. Navy and the U. S. Coast Gaurd.
