We’ve begun a transition period that will last a month or two. We now have an IRS non-profit tax number and are awaiting new state corporate registration documents. Meanwhile, we are recruiting new paid correspondents who will be paid to broaden our coverage of life in Nassau County – and asking previous volunteers if they’d like to stay on for the ride (and some extra bucks).
While we’re regrouping, I will keep providing coverage of city government. And the many useful press releases we get from community organizations and government agencies will be posted.
But summer will slow things down. People are traveling, and I need to spend time connecting with community members just to better know my way around. So the news might seem a little thin for awhile. That won’t last. The two dedicated women who ran the Observer for ten years are moving on, but they’ll keep their eyes on me. If you know Suanne Thamm or Susan Steger, you know how valuable their advice will be.
And so will your advice. You can best reach me at [email protected] or call or text at 904-568-1194. And don’t be surprised if a survey comes your way. Our subscriber list comes with email addresses, and I’ll use them (gently) to get feedback.
So welcome to the new Observer. It’s going to be an interesting journey!
