The citizen committee assisting with the Fernandina Beach city manager search got compliments from city commissioners at Tuesday’s commission meeting and just two suggestions.
Commissioner Darron Ayscue thought the local history section for applicants should mention that the modern shrimping industry is widely considered to have been born in Fernandina Beach. Well received, and consider it done.
And Commissioner Chip Ross thought the working schedule was a bit tight and proposed that the citizen committee get an extra week followed by an extra week for the commissioners. He got no arguments there. Interested citizens can now expect to see commissioners interviewing finalists in early September rather than late August.
