City Clerk Caroline Best announced at the last Fernandina Beach City Commission meeting that the city is seeking applicants for various board vacancies:
Airport Advisory Commission (1 vacancy)
The AAC serves in an advisory capacity to the Airport Manager and the City Commission regarding the development, operation and betterment of the airport. Aviation experience is not required to serve on the Airport Advisory Commission. Meetings occur on the second Thursday of every month, 6:00 pm at the City Hall Commission Chambers at 204 Ash Street.
Board of Adjustment (1 vacancy)
The BOA conducts public hearings and renders decisions in compliance with the requirements of the City's Land Development Code (LDC). It hears and decides appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, interpretation, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the LDC; and it may authorize a variance from a provision of the LDC, as set forth in Chapter 10. The Board of Adjustment meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month at 5:00 pm in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 204 Ash Street.
Code Enforcement & Appeals Board (2 vacancies)
Hear and decide alleged violations of the Code of Ordinances of the Fernandina Beach whose intent is to promote the health, welfare and safety of the citizens of the city. Hear appeals of decisions and interpretations of the building official and consider variance of the technical codes as defined in Section 98-169. Meetings occur on the first Thursday of every month, 5:30 pm in the City Commission Chambers.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee (2 vacancies)
Recommend to the City Commission plans and programs developed and available designed to meet and satisfy the recreational needs of the community. Recommend to the City Commission improvements to the parks system. Meetings occur on the second Wednesday of every month, 4:00 pm at the Aquatic Center Conference Room, Atlantic Recreation Center.
