The Amelia Island Book Festival luncheon, 11 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Courtyard Marriott Amelia Island, will feature author Kristin Harmel. She has written profusely in several genres, including historical fiction, romance and thrillers.
One of her best-known titles is The Forest of Vanishing Stars. Others are The Book of Lost Names, The Winemaker’s Wife and The Sweetness of Forgetting,
Ms. Harmel’s luncheon presentation will feature The Sweetness of Forgetting, a “beautifully complex” (Woman’s Day) classic that follows a Cape Cod bakery owner who must travel to Paris to uncover a lost family secret for her dying grandmother. What follows is “an immersive and evocative tale" as Hope pieces together her grandmother’s past bit by bit. Uncovering horrific tales of the Holocaust, she realizes the astonishing will of her grandmother to endure in a world gone mad.
The 10thAnniversary Edition of The Sweetness of Forgetting has been updated with a new author's note and three new recipes. It will be available for purchase and personal autograph by Ms. Harmel at the luncheon.
