Off the Porch

Posted

When I moved to Florida 28 years ago, I looked forward to sitting on my porch and enjoying my new Florida home. It inspired me to start my column, From The Porch, sharing my enthusiasm for Amelia Island. Through the years, I embraced all that is special about the island and its many tempting attributes. I shared them in my column. As I got involved in different non-profit organizations like the Amelia Island Museum of History, the Chamber Music Festival, and the Amelia Island Book Festival, I spent more time getting involved and off my porch.

My new column, Off The Porch, will appear weekly in the Fernandina Observer. Join me as I move from a print newspaper to an online newspaper. As I learn more about this exciting new form of delivering instant news, I find it an increasingly popular news source. Maybe the most exciting aspect is the daily updated content. You will find the latest news on city and county politics. A collection of the best and most interesting columnists will join me weekly to offer their perspectives on various subjects.

In addition to my weekly column, I will offer a window into Amelia Island and Nassau County's arts scene. You will find updated information about upcoming events, festival updates, and performance reviews. I invite organizations to send me information and suggest story ideas.

So off I go on a new adventure with the support of the Big Guy, my ever-patient and supportive husband, my two feisty dogs, Andy and Kate, and friends who know who you are.

So spread the word and make the Fernandina Observer part of your daily routine. Go to www.fernandinaobserver.com and subscribe.
