Applications are open for the NassauDems 2024 Fellowship Program. This free fellowship helps individuals build community relationships, develop organizational skills, and explore leadership potential. The application deadline is August 12.
The fellowship will help develop individuals for future leadership roles in the Democratic party to support the party nationwide as well as state and local races and activities. Fellows will learn to advocate effectively on issues facing Nassau County voters and voters nationwide -- including reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights education, healthcare and climate change.
Fellows will obtain hands-on community organizing experience and will develop management, database, citizen outreach and new media skills. They also will learn results-oriented tools to help change their communities while banking volunteer hours and gaining real-life political experience.
Skills training includes instruction in neighborhood canvassing, organizing events, registering voters, interviewing and endorsing candidates, and influencing voter turnout. Fellows will support local field offices, campuses, communications efforts and new media strategies. And, they will participate in organizing events and training, including attending countywide fellowship training and weekly conference calls. One-on-one conversations with fellows will be held weekly.
Applications are due by August 12. Training for the flagship class begins August 24. The fellowship runs until November 8 followed by a Watch Party and fellowship celebration and awards. For more information, email [email protected]
