JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) has launched Weekend College at FSCJ’s Deerwood Center, a two-year pathway to earn an Associate in Arts (A.A.) over the weekend. Beginning with Spring Term 2021, students can complete all of the A.A. general education classes at the Deerwood Center and take the online elective classes needed to transition to a bachelor’s degree program in as little as six terms.

“We know our students have a lot on them right now with all the new challenges and obstacles the pandemic has brought about. As the community’s college, it’s our job to do all we can to make a postsecondary degree and a fulfilling future possible,” said College President John Avendano, Ph.D. “Opening additional Friday evening and Saturday classes at the Deerwood Center is just one way we are able to support our students and help them achieve their goals during this uncertain time.”

Additional weekend classes are available at other FSCJ locations and through online learning. Students are encouraged to schedule an online advising appointment at fscj.edu/advising to ensure they stay on track and to select online elective classes that align with their intended transfer major.
