While City of Fernandina Beach offices will be closed on Monday, November 11, 2019 in observance of Veterans Day, the community will honor veterans with a parade on Saturday, November 9, and activities in the pocket park on Centre Street next to Amelia Island Coffee on November 11.

Organized by American Legion Post 54, the parade is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on November 9 at Central Park and proceed west along Ash Street to 2nd Street where it will turn north to Centre Street.  The parade will then travel east along Centre Street and end in Central Park.

Navy Veteran and Fernandina Beach Mayor John Miller has been working with Army Veteran Ricky Robbins, owner of Amelia Island Coffee, to provide a tribute to all veterans on November 11 at 10:00 a.m. in the pocket park just east of the coffee shop on Centre Street.

These events are all free and open to the public.

Our veterans left everything they knew and loved and served with exemplary dedication and courage so we could all know a safer America and a more just world. They have been tested in ways the rest of us may never fully understand…. On Veterans Day, and every day, let us show them the extraordinary gratitude they so rightly deserve… ~Barack Obama, 2015 November 5th, quoted from The White House Office of the Press Secretary
