The internationally acclaimed Dover Quartet, the quartet-in-residence of the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival, will play works of Mozart, Shostakovich and Dvorak on February 16 at a performance of the Festival’s 2020 season.
This 3:00 PM concert will be held at the Historic Nassau County Courthouse, 414 Centre Street in downtown Fernandina Beach. Tickets for this and every concert in the 2020 season are available at www.aicmf.com or 904/261-1779.
The Dover Quartet catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff Competition. The first-ever quartet-in-residence of the Kennedy Center and recipient of the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Dover has become one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The New Yorker has called the Dover “the young American string quartet of the moment.”
The Dover also is quartet-in-residence at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University, Chamber Music Northwest, Artosphere and Peoples’ Symphony in New York. The ensemble will make over 100 North American appearances during the current season.
For its performance of the Dvorak Sextet, the Dover will be joined by violist Roberto Díaz, president and CEO of the Curtis Institute of Music, and cellist Christopher Rex, the Festival’s artistic and general director and former principal cellist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Upcoming performances of the Festival’s 2020 season include the Christiania Piano Trio on February 23 and a concert by violinist Pamela Frank and pianist Stephen Prutsman on March 1.
