Women of Influence’s First Annual Scholarship/Fundraiser a huge success, thanks to the community

Through the guidance and mentoring of the American Business Women’s Eight Flags Charter Chapter, the first annual Scholarship/fundraiser dinner and live auction, held on March 25th by the Women of Influence (W.O.I.) student Club from West Nassau High School, was a smashing success.

The sellout crowd at Wildlight elementary school expressed awe as they arrived and were greeted by the music of the WNHS jazz band and stepped into a transformed cafeteria that looked like a magical wonderland. The young Women of Influence introduced themselves to each guest and helped them find their table. They answered questions and demonstrated their leadership; these young women were in charge of the evening.

The welcome speech, invocation, and pledge were handled by members of the club. They also assisted their exceptionally able auctioneer; Justin Taylor and recorded the live auction results. The students handled all the setup and take down of the entire room. The group’s in-school adviser Joshua McKinney, WNHS Drama Teacher, and Coach introduced the keynote speaker,  Raffaela Marie Rizzo Fenn. W.O.I. handled the evening’s recognition and acknowledgments.

The ABWA Eight Flags Charter Chapter and the Women of Influence W.O.I. student club from West Nassau High School wish to thank the following businesses and individuals that helped a group of dynamic young women not only achieve their goals to raise money for two $2,500 scholarships but now can double that with two $5,000 scholarships to deserving young women.

W.O.I. also wishes to thank the ABWA mentoring team, Marie Fenn, Lillie Rogers, Judge Jenny Higginbotham, Lisa Rosenblum, and all the women in the Eight Flags Charter Chapter for their support.

Enormous thanks go to the event sponsors and auction donors
