Editor’s Note: Allow me to brag about two of our distinguished Fernandina Observer staff. Anne H Oman, reporter-at-large, and Suanne Z. Thamm, reporter-news analyst, will appear at Story & Song during February. Anne’s date is February 16, and she will introduce her new book, Mango Rains. Suanne will appear February 17, to introduce her new book, Saving Fernandina 1972 – 1978. How fortunate we are to have them as volunteer writers. Mark your calendars!

“Art in the Afternoon” – Cummer Amelia presents “Masterpieces of Art from the Tumultuous Nineteenth Century: Romanticism, Realism, and the Beginnings of Modern Art,” with Dr. Debra Murphy. Free to members; $10 non-members. Register at CummerMuseum.org/Amelia.

Elephant Project – Founder Dane Waters joins us to talk about new ideas and new solutions that address the current threat to elephant survival in India, Asia and Africa.

Peace Starts Here – Peace Concert with Rev. Todd Glacy incorporates music, readings, and guided meditation.

“Tales & Tails”– White Oak Conservation Center comes to Story & Song. Children’s story time with activities begins at 10:30 am. Educational exhibit and “pop-up” gift shop from 11:30 to 3:30. “A Day at White Oak” photographic journey with nature and wildlife photographers Steve Leimberg, Dawna & Scott Moore.

Story & Song’s 2nd Birthday Celebration – Join us for a day of fun, drawings and giveaways. At 3 pm, meet and greet the artists of our new Wings Project, and pose for photos with your new wings. To round out the day, we’ll have a special concert by The Kooks Ukulele Orchestra at 4 pm.
