Volunteers Needed to Advise on Elder Issues

ElderSource, a nonprofit organization that works to empower elders, adults with disabilities and their caregivers in order to age with dignity and independence, is seeking volunteer members for its Advisory Council. The agency is specifically calling on seniors who live in Nassau County.

Advisory council members report on the needs of the elderly and emerging issues in their counties; review and comment on the agency’s area plan; study legislative issues and advocate on behalf of the elderly; assist in promoting the mission, programs and activities of the agency; and educate the public about the needs and contributions of the elderly.

“Our advisory council members are essential in keeping our agency up to date on senior issues in the areas that ElderSource serves,” said Linda Levin, CEO of ElderSource. “They are advocates for our local older adults, and we could not create positive change without them.”

Advisory council meetings are held on the third Thursday of every other month from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and are conducted virtually, using Zoom.
