West Point graduate Penny Glackin was welcomed to the Amelia Island Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution at the chapter’s monthly meeting. Her U.S. Army service included a short deployment with Operation Desert Storm as a Chemical Officer. Here she stands (picture right) with Chaplain Terri Gingery on her right, joined by Registrar Sharon Driscoll and Regent Lynn Leisy on her left.

Mrs. Glackin is a College Success Coach for Take Stock in Children and works primarily with Fernandina Beach High and Middle schools. She was motivated to apply for her DAR membership last year, when her daughter received a DAR $1,000 Scholarship while a senior at FBHS.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is the largest women’s service organization in the world and contributes over one million volunteer hours a year. The almost 200 members of the Amelia Island Chapter contribute approximately 5,000 volunteer hours and $5,000 in scholarships and awards in Nassau County each year.
