Two Volunteer Fairs Coming Up

Calling all volunteers! What is your passion? Children, dogs, cats, trees, sea turtles, environmental issues, healthcare, food insecurity, homelessness? Whatever your passion, there are dozens of local non-profit organizations looking for your help. Are you a student needing to fill community service hours? Are you new to the area and not sure what is available? Then these events are for you.

A small team of non-profit leaders, who are also members of the Chamber of Commerce, are hosting two Volunteer Recruitment Fairs on Oct. 6 and Oct. 8.

The Oct. 6 event will be at the Fernandina Beach Middle School gym on Citrona Avenue from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Oct. 8 event will be at the Miller Boy’s and Girl’s Club, Old Nassauville Road, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“Residents want to serve others and the community; they just need to connect with an organization that fills their passion,” says Lynda Bell, Keep Nassau Beautiful Executive Director. “We look forward to participating and new connections being made through Volunteer Nassau events.”

Over 20 local non-profits have already signed up for these two events. There will be food trucks at both events, so please come out, learn more about your community and meet other local citizens who want to help just like you.

“Our nonprofits do so many wonderful things for our Nassau community, and it cannot be done without our dedicated volunteers. We are excited to gather again and share what our organizations do to rally more volunteers and continue our great work.” said Robin C. Lentz, M.Ed., Executive Director, Take Stock in Children of Nassau County, Inc.
